Welcome to our restaurant called Wirt an der Mahr, which literally means „Host at the Mahr“. We are arguably the most traditional restaurant with a pizzeria in Brixen. The ancient walls bring back the ambiance of Tyrolean inn culture from 1805, making your dining experience in Brixen truly memorable.

Our cuisine

We choose seasonal and natural ingredients firsthand that are crafted into traditional South Tyrolean dishes and easily digestible Mediterranean delights. The hearty flavors rival the essence of Tyrolean farming culture on your taste buds, while the Italian cuisine charms your senses with gentle and rich delicate nuances. We also proudly offer a large and varied salad buffet.

Within these historic walls, even Andreas Hofer and his followers dined and savored a glass of wine – or two. After all, one of the companions was called Peter Mayr. He formerly was the host at the Mahr and was at the forefront of the Tyrolean freedom fighters. The rich and robust flavors of our dishes are as captivating as the history itself, offering a taste of excitement and adventure, but meant in a very positive way: multicultural.

The hosts

We are Helmut and Adriana, and we have been running the inn for many years now, welcoming people of all backgrounds and origins. Our daughter Nelly also contributes as a friendly server, actively participates in the daily operations. What unites our guests is a love for indulgence. We proudly follow in the footsteps of several generations of successful innkeepers, aiming to carry on their legacy with the same passion and enthusiasm as they did.
